D2 Johnny Nobles has been awarded a 2014 ADEAGies Foundation/AADR Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADCFP).
The fellowship components include two online sessions (Webinars), biweekly collaboration meetings between Fellow and Mentor, eight faculty/administrator interviews, three teaching practicums, two career reflection essays, a research practicum, and ADCFP portfolio, and a poster presentation at the 2015 ADEA Annual Session.
"It's designed to encourage dental students to consider academia" says Nobles. "The research component focuses on oral health in the Chinese community," noting that he will be working collaboration with his faculty mentor, Dr. Maria Orellana, Associate Clinical Professor, Director of the undergraduate Orthodontic Program, and clinic director of the Orthodontic Clinic.
Adds Nobles: "I'm considering academia for sure, as well areas of dentistry concerned with public health and serving dentally underserved communities."
