UCSF School of Dentistry students and an alumnus have been recognized by the Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) and Hispanic Dental Association Foundation (HDAF) with scholarships and honors, presented at the 24th Annual HDA Conference in Las Vegas on Aug. 23.

“Unprecedented” was the term Dean John D.B. Featherstone used to characterize four students from one dental school being awarded these prestigious HDAF scholarships at one time.
Equally prestigious was the HDA & Healthy Start National Outstanding Dental Practitioner award given to Dr. Michael Lopez (D’74), long-time member of the UCSF Dental Alumni Association Executive Committee and Chair of Student Relations. The award emphasizes that that Dr. Lopez “has made a difference in the lives of his students as a mentor.”
