Second-year student Julie H. Bui has been awarded a $10,000 Tylenol Future Care Scholarship, given to students pursuing careers in healthcare.
The scholarships are awarded to students who balance academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, and who are dedicated to caring for other people.
Says Bui, “I am incredibly grateful for the honor and thrilled to be representing the UCSF School of Dentistry with this award. I try in both my academic work and my volunteer work to worthy of this recognition, and in so doing I hope to become an effective health care provider.”
Bui gratefully acknowledges the guidance, encouragement and mentoring of Dr. Gwen Essex and Dr. Sam Huang, emphasizing that they encouraged her to “strive for success.”
Forty Tylenol Future Care Scholarships are awarded each year from more than 25,000 applicants: 30 awardees receive $5,000 and just ten receive $10,000. In 2013 D4 Ligia (Lilly) Padilla was also awarded a $10,000 Tylenol Future Care Scholarship.
