A record 247 delegates attended the 2015 International Symposium in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in January, capping four years of steadily increasing attendance.
Rotating between the islands of Kauai, Maui and the Big Island of Hawai’i, the International Symposium in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is primarily a lecture series featuring internationally known oral and maxillofacial surgery experts, who present practical recommendations for the clinical practices of experienced practitioners.
The series began in 1993 at the initiative of Dr. Charles Bertolami, then Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the UCLA School of Dentistry, who brought the event to the UCSF School of Dentistry when he became dean in 1995. A total of 60 delegates participated the first year.
The 2016 International Symposium in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will take place at the Hyatt Regency on Poipu Beach on the island of Kauai.
