This course will describe and illustrate different ways orthodontic treatment can facilitate and work in conjunction with other dental specialties resulting in a more desirable treatment.

Educational Objectives:

  • Recognize situations where orthodontic treatment is indicated.
  • Learn how full or limited orthodontic treatment can assist comprehensive dental treatment.
  • Learn different orthodontic biomechanical techniques.

Intended Audience: This course is appropriate for dentists, hygienists, and dental team members.

Instructor: Richard Donatelli, DMD, MS

Dr. Richard Donatelli received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) degree, Master of Science degree, and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Florida. He maintains an orthodontic practice within the University of Florida’s Faculty Practice and currently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Director in the Department of Orthodontics where he teaches orthodontics to the orthodontic residents, pedodontic residents, and dental students. Dr. Donatelli helps to oversee the Graduate Orthodontic Residency program. He also acts as director of the joint pedodontic/orthodontic course program, and serves as an attending professor in the Graduate Orthodontic Clinic. Dr. Donatelli is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontist, the Florida Association of Orthodontists, the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Education Association. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and also maintains a private orthodontic practice in West Palm Beach, Florida.

CDE Coursework Units: 1 

Tuition: $39 (Due to the Joint Providership of this program with ACDE, UCSF Faculty and Staff discounts are not available.)

Cancellation/Refunds:

Tuition refund, less a $25 cancellation fee, will be issued only for cancellations received in writing at least 3 business days prior to the start date of the course. No refunds will be issued for late cancellations or no-shows. We reserve the right to cancel any course due to circumstances beyond our control; under those circumstances we will refund all course fee payments. Please be aware that UCSF School of Dentistry CDE is not responsible for reimbursement of nonrefundable airline tickets or any other travel expenses in the event that a course is canceled.

This continuing education activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the standards of the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) through joint efforts between University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and the Association for Dental Education (ACDE).
