Heidi Kim was born and raised in China before moving to the U.S. for high school. She received her bachelor's degree in statistics with a minor in biology from George Washington University. The following year, Dr. Kim worked as a research assistant for Nobel laureate Dr. Ferid Murad in Washington, D.C. She subsequently earned her master's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She then went on to pursue her DDS at the University of California, San Francisco, where she organized numerous community outreach events to help underprivileged children to maintain their oral health and hygiene.
After dental school, Dr. Kim completed a general practice residency at UCLA for advanced training in hospital dentistry to serve patients with medically complex conditions and special needs. Dr. Kim is very grateful to be a part of the UCSF pediatric dentistry family. Her current research project studies the efficacy and safety of morphine, hydroxyzine, and ibuprofen regimen in pediatric oral conscious sedation. Outside of residency, Dr. Kim loves traveling and trying out new foods.
