Dr. Hong is an Associate Professor and Graduate Orthodontics Program Director in the Division of Orthodontics. She completed her dental education Cum Laude from Harvard University, following which she pursued advanced training in orthodontics and an MS in Oral Biology at UCLA. Immediately following the completion of her residency, she became a faculty member at UCLA, where she was an Associate Professor and Predoctoral Orthodontic Program Director. Dr. Hong is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Hong’s clinical and research work are aimed at better understanding the biological processes underlying craniofacial bone regeneration as well as developing improved orthodontic appliances and technique in order to improve treatment outcomes for patients. She has an active research laboratory that studies the molecular mechanisms of dental stem cells in order to develop promising therapeutic target for osteoporosis and MSC-mediated craniofacial bone regeneration. 

Her practice philosophy is shaped by the most current research in the field of orthodontics, and she brings her dedication and passion for new knowledge and technology to her patient care. She strives to provide a comprehensive, and comfortable environment her patients, tailoring treatment plans to patient preferences with a focus on optimal oral function, esthetics and health.

As program director, Dr. Hong is focused on providing a comprehensive training experience for the residents, including training in the most current clinical approaches.
