This course offers an introduction to the planification and execution of treatments for patients requiring implant-assisted complete prostheses. During the presentation 3 prosthetic designs will be discussed: removable complete prostheses retained by unsplinted attachments such as the Locator™ abutment, removable complete prostheses retained by splinted attachments such as the Dolder bar, and implant-fixed complete prostheses will be discussed.

- Understand concepts important for the rehabilitation of complete arch implant-prostheses
- Understand the advantages and disadvantages of each implant-assisted prosthetic designs
- Treatment plan implant-assisted complete prostheses
- Plan and execute select treatments for patients requiring implant-assisted complete prostheses
Instructor: Pierre-Luc Michaud, DMD
Dr. Michaud is an Associate Professor and head of the division of prosthodontics at Dalhousie Dentistry. He received his dental degree from Université de Montréal in 2007 and completed a Master of Science and specialty training in prosthodontics in 2011. Dr. Michaud also completed a Fellowship in Oral Oncology & Maxillofacial Prosthodontics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has lectured extensively on local, national, and international platforms. His research interests include biomaterials, surface bonding, implant dentistry, and maxillofacial prosthodontics. Dr. Michaud actively maintains a private practice in the Dalhousie intramural Faculty Practice, where he covers all aspects of prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthodontics.
