Evangelin received a BDS degree in Dental Surgery from Lenora Institute for Dental Sciences, India, where she graduated with honors. During this time, she actively participated in the research, winning first place in the World Dental Conference, conducted by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, for her presentation on the publication "Twin Mix Anesthesia." Upon finishing her dental degree, Evangelin completed her Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, where she also worked as a graduate student researcher for the UC Berkley Safe Transportation and Educational Center and the Health Research for Action, California Department of Public Health Office of Oral Health. Through these experiences, she worked on projects involving extensive review of pedestrian injury reports among different racial groups and helped the Office of Oral Health improve dental communication with patients.
Her professional interests include improving patient quality and treatment for underserved communities, emphasizing individuals experiencing homelessness, low-income groups, and rural communities. She is also passionate about improving communication between oral healthcare providers and patients through enhancing health literacy. Aside from academics, Evangelin is a national badminton and athletic champion, competing at the interstate sports and games competition in 2012. She also describes herself as a true bookworm who loves reading novels in her spare time.
