Dr. Rashmi Mishra is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orofacial Sciences and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine. Before coming to UCSF, she worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine at the University of Washington.
Dr. Mishra earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Manipal University, India and then completed her residency and Master’s in oral medicine from the University of Washington. She has also earned her Master’s in public health from the University of Texas and has research training in Biomedical Informatics. She completed a clinical research fellowship from NIDCR, NIH where she worked on several craniofacial projects involving patient-reported outcomes for rare craniofacial disorders which has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications. She is currently a research collaborator with the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME, University of Washington,) where she focuses on applying her epidemiologic skills in studying the global burden of oral and craniofacial disorders.
Trained as an oral medicine clinician and with research training in public health and informatics, she is very much interested, in application of data mining and machine learning to address the gap between clinical data and clinical knowledge to improve patient care in dentistry and oral medicine.
