Deborah Greenspan and John Greenspan Inducted as International College of Dentists Fellows

Dr. John S. Greenspan and Dr. Deborah GreenspanDeborah Greenspan, BDS, DSc, Professor of Oral Medicine and Chair, Department of Orofacial Sciences, UCSF School of Dentistry, and John S. Greenspan, BSC, BDS, PhD, FRCPath, ScD [hc], FDSRCS [Eng], Distinguished Professor of Oral Pathology, Department of Orofacial Sciences, and Associate Dean for Global Oral Health, UCSF School of Dentistry, were inducted as Fellows of the International College of Dentists (ICD) at the organization's 84th annual convocation in New Orleans on November 1, 2013.

Established in 1928, the International College of Dentists (ICD) is the oldest and largest international honorary dental organization, with over 12,000 Fellows worldwide.  Fellowship is granted in recognition of a dentist’s "outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind."

Both Dr. Deborah Greenspan and Dr. John Greenspan have been honored multiple times during careers that have included a long association with UCSF, pioneering research, and the leadership of international organizations advancing the cause of dentistry and oral and craniofacial reasearch and health.

In 2012, Dr. John S. Greenspan was named the recipient of the ADA Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Dental Research.
