Dr. Stacy LomeliDr. Stacy Lomeli (1968-2014), who received her DDS from the UCSF School of Dentistry in 1995 and who was a member of the school's Faculty of General Dentistry from 1995 to 2006, passed away in January 2014 following a long illness.

"I am so very sad to be passing on this information -- it is a great loss" said Dr. Sheila Brear, Chair of the Division of Clinical General Dentistry, in an e-mail to Dean John D.B. Featherstone and other members of school community.

Dr. Lomeli began her teaching career at UCSF after graduation, also going into private practice as a general dentist. She ventured into forensic dentistry with additional training at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda, MD.

Her academic career continued in 2006 at the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) School of Dentistry, where she was a member of the faculty practice, sat on the Admissions Committee, was an instrumental contributor to the reorganization of the student clinics, and was charged with leading a Group Practice of dental students.

Dr. Lomeli is survived by her husband Peter (married 2004), her son PJ (born 2009), as well as her parents, Sandra and Joseph Lomeli, mother and father in law Dee and Pete Peterson, sister Michelle Stroud, and brother Brian Lomeli.

A CaringBridge.org page has been established where messages can be left for her family (search: Stacy Lomeli/Peterson), and a memorial service is scheduled for January 27th at the West Linn Lutheran Church in Oregon.

A memorial service is expected to be held in the Bay Area at a date and time to be announced by the family.
