UCSF’s ASDA (American Student Dental Association) chapter recently brought home a prestigious national award, presented at ASDA’s 44th Annual Session at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA.
Every year at Annual Session, ASDA recognizes individual chapters for their achievements in membership, communication, organized dentistry, activities, predental involvement, fundraising, and ethical awareness. Out of 20 chapters that applied nationwide, UCSF-ASDA was awarded the Gold Crown Award for Most Improved Chapter, a first for UCSF.
Over the past year, the chapter has made many improvements all around, especially with national leadership involvement, and activities such as Admit Day and International Dentist Program (IDP) Day.
UCSF-ASDA’s faculty sponsors, Dr. Oanh Le, Dr. Paul Atkinson, and Dr. Robert Ho, were ecstatic to hear the news. Says Dr. Le: "I am extremely proud and honored to be one of the faculty mentors, especially to a well-organized and hard working group of officers. You all have made my job as a mentor easy and enjoyable."
A special thank you to Michael Hong (Class of 2015) and Dien Sun (Class of 2017), who helped put together the chapter’s award-winning application.
UCSF-ASDA is proud to represent UCSF and all the wonderful volunteers who keep the chapter running strong.
This is UCSF-ASDA’s fourth Gold Crown Award received, with the previous award being Best Newsletter, in 2013.
