The American Association of Orthodontists Foundation (AAOF) Board of Directors has selected Karin Vargervik, DDS, a distinguished member of the faculty of UCSF Dentistry's Division of Orthodontics, Department of Orofacial Sciences, and former director of UCSF's Center for Craniofacial Anomalies, to present the Salzmann Lecture at the 2015 American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session in San Francisco.
From the AAOF website: "The [Salzmann Lecture] should deal with orthodontics and cognate subjects as they relate to the provision of orthodontic care under community, state, federal and private programs in which the fee is paid in part or in whole by an agency other than the direct recipient of the orthodontic service. The lectures may deal also with research and actual methods of practice as they apply to the individual patient regardless of the method of payment or nonpayment for the service."
Her nomination came from Dr. Robert Varner, who will serve as AAO President for the 2015 AAO Annual Session. The AAO Foundation President introduces the Salzmann Lecturer at the event.
This prestigious award comes with an honorarium which includes the award itself and all expenses.
