Denise Ramsey developed a stiff jaw and difficulty opening her mouth following a root canal last year, eventually diagnosed as Trismus, or lockjaw. She saw several practitioners before receiving a referral to the UCSF Center for Orofacial Pain, which turned out to be a fortunate development in her search for relief.
“I’m really grateful for UCSF,” says Ramsey in a brief video, adding that therapy with the Center for Orofacial Pain’s Patricia Rudd, including the use of a TheraBite device, restored normal jaw function in about two months.
“I’m grateful to all of the doctors here for making my mouth heal,” she added, before cheerfully demonstrating how widely she can open her mouth now.
