Marivic (Mar) De Leon was born and raised in Fremont, California. Dr. De Leon graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in English. After graduation, she moved back to the Bay Area to complete her post-baccalaureate certificate from California State University-East Bay.
Dr. De Leon pursued her dental training at Roseman University of Health Sciences in South Jordan, Utah surrounded by beautiful mountainous views. She held various leadership positions with the American Student Dental Association, Special Care Dentistry Association, and Lucy Hobbs Initiative for Women in Dentistry, and was very active in community service events such as Give Kids a Smile Day, Back to School Brush Up, Oral Cancer Walk, and Special Olympics. Dr. De Leon’s passion for service inspired her to become the co-founder of Smile Station, the first ever event in the greater Salt Lake City area aiming to improve the oral health of children with special health care needs. She realized the barriers to care that exist within this population and her passion for working with these children in a dental setting led her to pursue a specialty in pediatrics. Upon graduation, Dr. De Leon earned the Humanitarian Award and Distinguished Advocacy Award. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to complete her residency training at UCSF through the pediatric dental certificate/MPH track.
Apart from her career goals, Dr. De Leon loves watching basketball, going to concerts, running, cooking, trying new restaurants, and exploring new places. She is excited to be walking distance to the Golden State Warriors stadium, and to be a new addition to the UCSF family!
